UPDATE: As expected, Call of Duty fans were greeted with a pleasant surprise when the release date for Modern Warfare 2 was revealed.
The new Call of Duty game will be released in October, and
key art for the Modern Warfare sequel was also shown today for the first time.
ORIGINAL STORY: Modern Warfare 2 might be announced today,
with fans hoping to see the first teaser for the next blockbuster Call of Duty
game in the next few hours.
The 2022 Call of Duty game has already been announced as a
successor to 2019's Modern Warfare remake, with a logo for the next COD game
being shown.
However, no teaser or gameplay trailers have been released
yet, so players have yet to see what Modern Warfare 2 may look like.
With a leaker hinting a probable Call of Duty announcement
at 6pm UK time today, that might all change shortly.
This information comes from leaker @RalphsValve, who stated
that an announcement will be made at 5 p.m. UK time before changing it to 6
p.m. UK time.
This tease follows the discovery of a secret video in the
Modern Warfare 2 playlist on the official Call of Duty YouTube channel by
eagle-eyed Call of Duty enthusiasts.
This has been interpreted by fans as a possible indicator
that a new Modern Warfare 2 trailer has been posted to YouTube's backend but
has yet to go live.
This might indicate that an announcement is on the way.
The newest Modern Warfare 2 rumours surface as Call of Duty
fans prepare for this week's Warzone and Vanguard updates.
Activision Blizzard is preparing to release Call of Duty
season 3 Reloaded for Vanguard and Warzone, with Vanguard getting the patch
first on Tuesday and Warzone getting it on Wednesday.
The patch will provide a new fast-travel mechanism for
Warzone, as well as the new H4 Blixen SMG weapon.
Season 3 Reloaded will be available in Call of Duty Vanguard
at 6 p.m. UK time on Tuesday, May 24, and in Call of Duty Warzone at 5 p.m. UK
time on Wednesday, May 25.
